Wanda Devane

Mrs. Wanda DeVane, age 94,  a  Lake City resident of 65 years, passed away peacefully at her  home in St. Johns, Fla. with her family at her side.  She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Clara Murrill.  Mrs. DeVane moved to Lake City in 1947 with her husband of 45 years, John H. DeVane, Jr., at which time she joined the Frist Presbyterian Church and remained a lifelong member.  She was a loyal and beloved employee of the Columbia County Tax Collectors Office for 35 years.  She spent many  joyful hours fishing and relaxing with her  family at their Itchetucknee home. After her retirement, she discovered a passion for golf and travel and made many wonderful memories with friends and family on the golf course of Quaill Heights Golf Course and around the country and afar.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. DeVane,  Jr.: her daughter, Jan DeVane;  her son-in-law, Johnnie Hall;  sisters,  Eleanor Sparkman, Janel Leidstrand and Edna Erickson:  Brothers, Frank Murrill and Wallace Murrill: and dear friend, Ron Ross.  She is survived by her daughter,  Becky  Hall:  her granddaughter,  Shannon  Hall (Derek) Emerson of St. Johns, Fla.:  great-grandchildren, Zachary DeVane Emerson,  Jacob William Emerson, Joshua John Emerson and Amelia Grace Emerson:  her brother, Clinton (Louise) Murrill:  and close extended family, Ray and Marion Fountain.  A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. DeVane  will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, Nov.  11, in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Cindy Benz, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lake City, Fla.  Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Wednesday (One hour before services) at her church.  GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., U.S. 41 South, Lake City, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
