Wendell Wayne Long

Mr. Wendell Wayne Long, age 73, of Sanderson, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 24, at his home. Mr. Long was born November 24, 1948, in Macclenny, Florida and has resided in Baker County all of his life. He was retired from Northeast Florida Telephone Company where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement. Mr. Long also served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, and was an avid Florida Gators fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Blanche Dinkins Long and his stepdaughter, Lori Nicole Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Long; son, Joshua (Lisa) Long of Branford, Florida; 3 daughters, Ellee Long, Shellee Long Haun both of Sacramento, California, and Stephanie (Brad) Crawford of Glen St. Mary, Florida; 2 brothers, Danny (Joan) Long of Macclenny, Florida, Thomas (Lynn) Long of Providence, Florida; 2 sisters, Diane Crews of Baldwin, Florida, and Jo Anne (Mackie) McDuffie of Macclenny, Florida; 9 grandchildren, Gunnar, Amelia, Breeanna, Joseph, Jason, Jeanna, Michael, Ty, and Leah. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Long will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, Aug. 29, in the Chapel at Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, Florida with Rev. Justin Griffis, Pastor, officiating. Interment will in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday (one hour before services) at the funeral home.
