Wilbur A. Lyons

Mr. Wilbur A. "Dolph" Lyons, age 85, of Glen St. Mary, Fla. died Sunday, Aug. 25,  at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla. and lived in Macclenny, Fla. all of his life. He retired as a refrigeration mechanic from Fruit Growers Xpress Railroad in 1989 after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, a member of the AFLCIO union, Dawkins Masonic Lodge of Macclenny, Fla., the Scottish Rites and the Morocco Temple, the V.F.W. and American Legion. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II. and enjoyed farming, working with his flowers and was active in his church and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Pearl Thrift Lyons, Sr. and his daughter, Belinda Glover. He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Lyons of Glen St. Mary, Fla.: Four daughters, Sue Sapp and  Ann (Butch) Johns both of Glen St. Mary, Fla.,  Kristi (Buddy) Combs of  Macclenny, Fla. and Lisa Lyons of Jacksonville, Fla.:  Five sons,  Mark E. Lyons of Glen St. Mary, Fla., Timmy Lee and Mark Lee both of Macclenny, Fla., Glenn Blanton of  Orange Park, Fla. and John  Ashby of Augusta, Ga.: Two special grandchildren that he raised, Brandi Chambers and Tasha Baxter:  One sister, Eva Mae Longino of Jacksonville, Fla.: One brother,  Junior (Bonnie) Lyons of Glen St. Mary, Fla.:  10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, Aug. 28, in the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ramondetta, Pastor, officiating and assisted by Rev. James Conner, Pastor of New Life Baptist Church, St. George, Ga. and Rev. Clayton McCormick, Pastor of  Central Chapel Worship Center, Pensacola, Fla.  Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, Orange Park, Fla. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at  the church.
