Mr. Wilbur Norvall Wilkinson, age 88, of Macclenny, Florida died Friday, Dec. 15, in the Acosta Rau Center for Caring, Jacksonville, Florida following a long illness. He was born in Macclenny, Florida and lived in Jacksonville, Florida for many years before moving to Bryceville, Florida two years ago to be close to his loving family. He worked as a supply supervisor with the U.S. Civil Service JAX NAS for many years until his retirement. He attended the First Baptist Church, Maxville, Florida and played football on the first football team of Baker County High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and met his wife, Iris, the love of his life, at the London Zoo, London, England and was married for 62 years until her recent death.
He is survived by two sons, David (Lucia) Wilkinson of Bryceville, Florida and Dale (Lynda) Wilkinson of Jacksonville, Florida: One sister, Charlene Villasor of Macclenny, Florida: Three grandchildren, Ryan Wilkinson, Davina (Scott) Christy and Devin Lilly Wilkinson: two great-grandchildren, Tori and Braydan Christy.
A funeral service to honor the life of Wilkinson will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, Dec. 19, in the First Baptist Church, Maxville, Florida with Rev. Richard Fish, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Long Branch Cemetery, Clay County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
