Mr. William Henry Crawford, age 97, of Glen St. Mary, Fla. died Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the Macclenny Nursing and Rehab Center, Macclenny, Fla. following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Baker County and the first of six sons born to Arch and Annie Stone Crawford on Feb. 11, 1916. He was raised on the family farm in Sanderson, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and retired from Iron Workers Local #597 of Jacksonville, Fla. and farmed until 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Combs Crawford in 2005 after 69 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Wade, Gene, Arch Jr., James Crawford and sister, Mildred Brinkley. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Annie Ruth and J.L. Burnsed, Glen St. Mary, Fla., son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Evelyn Crawford of Glen St. Mary, Fla.: Five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren: His brother, Edgar Crawford of Sanderson, Fla.: Brother-in-law, Heywood Giddens and sister-in-law, June Giddens of Glen St. Mary, Fla., as well as many other relatives. He was a faithful attendant of The Taylor Church where he had been a member since Oct. 1, 1960. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, Dec. 13, in The Taylor Church with Rev. Jim Cox and Rev. Leo Lanier officiating. Interment will be in Taylor Cemetery, Taylor, Fla. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 12, in The Taylor Church, Taylor, Fla.
