Mr. William Brantley “Billy” Rowe, Sr., age 80, of Macclenny, Florida died Monday, Feb. 22, in the Macclenny Nursing & Rehab Center, Macclenny, Florida following an extended illness. Mr. Rowe had resided in Macclenny, Florida all of his life. He worked for Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Florida for 31 years and retired as Director of Food Services in 1997. He was a member of the Raiford Road Church, Macclenny, Florida and enjoyed hunting, camping, blue grass music, working his horses and cattle and spending time with his family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Hopkins “Buck” Rowe and Sadie Mae Dugger Rowe and his sister, Gladys Jane Bass. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Combs Rowe of Macclenny, Florida: His daughter, Pam (Jimmy) Hartley of Macclenny, Florida: His son, William Brantley “Butch” (Loretta) Rowe, Jr. of Macclenny, Florida: One brother, Charles (Ernestine) Rowe of Macclenny, Florida: Five grandchildren, Mandi (Mitch) Canaday, Brant (Sarah) Hartley, Brandi (Jamey) Hodges, Brandon (Lena Kay) Hartley and B.J. (Meggy) Rowe: 13 great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Rowe will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Raiford Road Church with Rev. Eddie Griffis, Associate Pastor of Raiford Road Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. A visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 9 P.M.
