Mr. William “Bill” Douglas Watson, age 73, of Sanderson, Florida died Tuesday, Jan. 5, at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born in Orlando, Florida and lived in Glen St. Mary, Florida before moving to Sanderson, Florida in 1989. He worked as a deputy sheriff for 28 years with the Baker County Sheriff’s Department and was former owner of Air Engineers Air Conditioning Service in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a member of the Sanderson Masonic Lodge, a marine veteran of the Vietnam War and an avid farmer, raising animals and poultry. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Grady and Mary Christine Malloy Watson. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Watson of Sanderson, Florida: Two daughters, Lynn (Chris) Chisholm of Macclenny, Florida and Kim (Dale) Erwin of Sanderson, Florida: One son, Glenn (Courtney) Watson of Port St. Lucie, Florida: Five siblings, John Watson , Jerry (Pam) Watson and Linda Moore all of Jacksonville, Fla., Sara (Kenny) McClurg of Lake Worth, Fla. and Therese “Annette’ (Wayne) Pope of Fruit Cove, Fla.: Seven grandchildren , five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Watson will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Jan. 8, in the First United Methodist Church, Macclenny, Fla. with Rev. Will Harris officiating and assisted by Rev. Don Thompson, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Baker County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M.
